Latest Update on Sonam Raghuvanshi Case

Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, has reportedly confessed to her role in the crime during police interrogation. However, authorities have clarified that this confession is not legally admissible unless recorded before a magistrate. Sonam, along with her alleged boyfriend Raj Kushwaha, was arrested earlier this week. Investigators believe that Kushwaha, who worked at Sonam’s family business, maintained a romantic relationship with her and played a key role in orchestrating the murder.

The couple had married on May 11 in Indore and traveled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 21. By May 23, both had gone missing, and Raja’s body was later discovered in a gorge on June 2. Sonam resurfaced in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur on June 8, claiming illness, before being taken into custody. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has revealed that three contract killers—Akash, Anand, and Vikash—were sent from Indore to Shillong to carry out the murder. CCTV footage, travel tickets, and Aadhaar IDs have reportedly confirmed their involvement.

Authorities have uncovered a disturbing detail in the case: the attackers allegedly planned to murder a random woman, burn her body, and pass it off as Sonam’s to buy her more time to evade capture. Police have also confirmed that this was not the first attempt to kill Raja—three previous efforts had failed before the final attack in Weisawdong.

Sonam and four other accused have been sent to eight days of police custody in connection with the case. Meanwhile, her brother, Govind Raghuvanshi, has publicly stated that he is “100% sure” of her involvement and has severed ties with her. The case has sparked widespread public outrage, with protests and rallies demanding justice for Raja.

As the investigation continues, authorities are expected to present further forensic evidence, including clothing worn by the accused at the time of the murder. Sonam is set to be produced in court today, where further legal proceedings will determine the next steps in the case.

Stay tuned for more updates as the situation unfolds.
